THE INDULGERS

Five musicians of different musical backgrounds and interests met in Colorado in 1998 and came together to form The Indulgers.  All original members remain, each with their own talents and experiences that blend together to create what has become the band’s signature Celtic sound. Singer/Songwriter Damien McCarron was born in Dublin, Ireland. Growing up, Damien identified strongly with his Celtic heritage, spending summers at Colaiste Lurgan in Connemara (County Galway) and in Perth, in Scotland. His father had moved from Wishaw, Scotland,to join the Guinness Brewing Company. Damien learned the  language and traditions of his ancestors at an early age and remains tied to the land of his birth by both the love of his country and his family, most of whom still live in the fishing village of Howth, north of Dublin, in Ireland.

Multi-instrumentalist/Songwriter Mike Nile returned to his home in Colorado after years of touring as bass player with the legendary rock band “Spirit”, and recording and producing various renowned acts in Los Angeles, California.  Mike traded his bass for a variety  of instruments including guitars, mandolins, accordions, whistles, and electronic bagpipes. Also of Irish heritage, Mike’s grandfather immigrated from Dublin, first moving to San Francisco and then to Utah, where Mike was born.

Drummer Pat Murphy and Bass Player Chris Murtaugh had known each other and played in bands together while still living in Virginia. Pat is originally from Albany, NY, and Chris is originally from Chicago, but both grew up among Irish neighbors and family, giving them a firm grip on Celtic music and craic. They met again in Colorado and fate brought them together as the backbone of The Indulgers.
